How To Plan Your New Year’s Eve Wedding

While most couples plan their weddings for the sunny summer months (and we don’t blame them!), there’s also something truly romantic about a winter wedding. The deep, rich winter hues or the snowy whites and metallics are nothing short of magical.

Let’s talk about the benefits of having a New Year’s Eve Wedding and what you can incorporate into yours to make it truly unforgettable.

Let It Snow

Unlike an outdoor wedding, you don’t have to worry about potential rain or unexpected winds because your wedding will most likely be indoors from the start of the planning. You won’t have to stress about standing out in the blazing sun with melting makeup or sweating through your dress or suit.

Simply enjoy the venue controlled temperature and let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Always A Celebration

A pro to having your wedding on new years eve is there will always be a celebration. Whether you ring in the new year with friends and family or just the two of you, you know that everyone will be celebrating and toasting on your anniversary. How cool is that?

The Colour Palette

As we mentioned before, you can go cozy and romantic with a rich berry and merlot palette. The deep colour stands out in a good way against a white dress or snowy setting if you’re planning any outdoor photos. Mix in some winter greenery and gold accents for the perfect moody palette.

Or you can go the opposite route with an all white colour scheme that evokes the ultimate sense of luxury and elegance. Stick to white flowers with touches of soft green for a slight contrast in the bouquets and centerpieces. Adorn the tables with touches of silver that pop against the white setting. Go a step further and turn it into a “white tie affair” and ask guests to wear white. They will feel like true royalty attending such a lavish wedding.

Go Gatsby!

Having your wedding on New Year’s Eve definitely gives you the right to get a little fancier and put a twist on your celebration. Treat guests to a champagne tower or chocolate fountain. They both function as unique decor and dessert. Win win!

Forgo the typical sit down dinner and opt for a cocktail style soiree to keep with the NYE theme. We know this is not currently an option in regards to Covid 19 restrictions, but our fingers are crossed for next year!

Cheers To The New Years…And The New Couple!

This is your wedding and your chance to do something unexpected and extra special to celebrate. Consider doing something big like a balloon drop on the dancefloor or confetti poppers at midnight. Now that’s a celebration!

Have guests line the way to your car with sparklers as you do your grand exit as newlyweds. Make sure your photographer is still there to capture these memories because you won’t want to miss this one!

Current Restrictions

In the current pandemic climate, we have to keep in mind the restrictions that are in place and that they could potentially change before your wedding. While this isn’t how anyone planned to get married, there are a few things couples are benefitting from with such a reduced guest list.

All those savings! Yep, you heard us. With weddings going from 150 to 50 or less, couples have more money in their budget to put towards the gorgeous decor or dream caterer that was just out of your budget.

Why is this a benefit? Your guests get to experience your wedding as an ultra special and memorable event. You can splurge a little more on the details making them feel incredibly honoured to have made it on the final list and it with it being a more intimate setting, it will truly be a wedding they will never forget.

Remember to check your city’s current covid restrictions and work with your planner and designer to host a beautiful and safe wedding.
