You’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner. You have the turkey, the potatoes, the stuffing, the Brussel sprouts – and most definitely the wine! It’s your usual spread and its expected by your guests. So why not try something different this year to really show your family and friends some love?
Instead of serving the usual pumpkin pie, why not turn your dessert course into a gift for your guests! Here’s a few ideas to try this season.
Homemade Caramel Apple Butter
Anyone else have tons of apples kicking around or is that just me? What better way to use up some apples than to try out a recipe like this one by It’s Always Autumn. I’ve made a batch of apple butter divided into little jars as a Christmas present for my friends. And let me tell you. It. Was A. Hit! Mine may have included some spiced rum, but you can certainly make it without booze and it will be just as yummy!
If you have any extra pumpkin puree without a home, you can turn this into Spiced Pumpkin Apple Butter from Very Best Baking. We gave out mini jars of these as favours to our wedding guests. Very fitting for an October event!
Divide the butter into mini canning jars. Tie a ribbon or some jute twine around the top and voila! Instant gift and dessert all in one.
Pumpkin White-Hot Chocolate
You might not think of hot chocolate when you think of dessert, but this decadent drink absolutely does the trick.
This treat can be done in the slow cooker, so it gets bonus points for saving you time in the kitchen! Once it’s cool, pour the hot chocolate into small glass bottles or jars and add a label “Pumpkin White-Hot Chocolate. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice. Enjoy!”

No Bake Oreo Cheesecake
You had me at no bake! This is a simple recipe that will win over the inner kid in everyone. Seriously, my husband still opts for cookies n’ cream and Oreo everything! A true kid at heart.
It’s a classic cookie we all know and love. Guaranteed to make everyone happy. And did I mention the no baking? You’re welcome, friends!

Give one of these a try this Thanksgiving. I promise, your guests will love this approach to dessert time and they’ll be asking you to host again next year.
Let me know what you think!
